I've been watching season 1 the last few days, and I noticed how low Screech's voice is while he was a few years younger than the other guys. Zacks voice was higher. It surprised me, 'cause Screechs voice is getting higher and higher every season, and I know it's fake 'cause in serious scenes his voice is just normal. Why did he have to talk like that? To me, the jokes he made got a bit too much by using a silly voice.

I think the Screech character helped make the comedy of the series , among the more serious stuff they threw in. It wouldn't have been the same without Screech. I only ever watched the final episode of the new class, so don't really know much about what they did to Screech's character in that.

Because in the beginning Screech was really just a smart boy who didn't really have friends outside of Zack. Then they started with the whole "geek/nerd" thing to make the show look "cooler" I guess? Transitioning away from Miss. Bliss to SBTB. That's why the whole weird clothing and voices came into play. I, too, wasn't really a fan. I liked Screech in the beginning. It got to be really ridiculous in TNC with how they changed his whole personality. He was suppose to be this smart guy, but he didn't act it.
Zack's voice changed because he got older and was turning into a man.

Yeah I agree they did make his character dumber and dumber. but sometimes he would be like the old screech. and OMG the clothes they had him wearing LOL... Tif was always the one in a cheerful mood. Oh in the Vegas wedding he was SO annoying lol
