WHat did you think?
What was your reaction to the teens being chosen, Zordon, Alpha, and the words?
Which Villians did you like, did you not like?

I thought the first season was good from I recall. I haven't seen the whole season for a long time. As long as Rita doesn't catch me on a bad day, screaming and passing on her migraines to me. I'm cool. My most memorable was Green Ranger's main entrance. Even thought I was a fan of Jason mostly way before Tommy entered the game. Of course there were times when I would switch around, when I was a kid on all the rangers.
- Zordon didn't leave his team hanging. He was descriptive in instructing them how to use their morphers. If memory serves me accurately, there were mentors who didn't live up to. Not saying he was flawless, but he did a pretty good damn job as their mentor.
- Kimberly was more self-reliant before her rescuer came along. I know they're a team and all, but she didn't always need Tommy, screaming his name. He might as well had a beeper clipped on his belt.
- Goldar, season one was probably one of his golden moments, unlike the season ahead, where he seemed weaker and not as serious. I just preferred Goldar for who he actually was.
- Bulk & Skull brought light to the show, other than the heroes fighting wearing spandex, summoning robots with the ability to combine into a mightier robot and the combinations with extra zords, whether they were pilot by a newer ranger or not wasn't the only thing that interested me. Bulk and Skull just brought comedy to children. After watching Day of the Dumpster the other day, I didn't feel that same expression as a child. Even though I did watch the Toon Disney/Jetix airings. Maybe by watching the full first season again, it'll change my perception. Maybe I'll at least find a smile on my face again or even better a laugh.

Considering I personally had nothing else to compare it to, I thought it was awesome when it premiered.
Having gone through it again recently on Netflix (I'm going on a marathon, currently on Lost Galaxy), it certainly doesn't hold the same llevel of wonder it did at 10 years old or even the first time around. But more than alot of shows geared towards children, its amazing watching the show in the context of all its become up to now. There is a greater appreciation for what Saban tried to achieve with, at the very least, MM to PRiS.
For the rangers chosen? Again, there wasn't a previous team to draw reference or comparison to. So for me, they were a great team and will always hold a special place in my heart
As for villains? Scorpina will always be my favorite of the bunch. Never was much a Goldar fan, serious or more goofy.

I thought the season was in between good/okay. It will always have a special place in my heart due to it being the original and the one that started it all. From what I have read from those who have seen Zyuranger and what I have seen from watching MMPR S1. The series strayed from it's counterpart. As the Zyuranger team were revived ancient warriors and the rangers in MMPR were high school students. MMPR was it's own thing story wise at least. I don't recall disfavoring a character. I may have a favorite or favorites. But they were likable, unless I forgotten something. They had lives outside of saving the world. They didn't stick around the base when they weren't on call and plus it helped their development. A good example is Billy, who had his inventions and intelligence, that not only showed he had a life than saving the world, but his knowledge also contribute when they were in need. Even though Zordon was their mentor, there were times when he wasn't present. As you could see in Green With Evil and other episodes. They had Billy's knowledge to help them succeed in certain task. Even though they all knew how to fight. Jason was experienced in martial arts and his leadership helped them through when he wasn't stuck in the dark dimension. But the point is they all had lives when they weren't on duty. I did like that about MMPR.
Now, even as a kid and up until now. I didn't like seeing Dragonzord introduced and having it's a** whooped. I'm sure it has been spoken through others' thoughts, after reading from archives. I haven't seen Zyuranger in full. I've only really seen a clip of Burai's death. So I'm uncertain if Dragon Caesar's fate played out the same or the footage was out of order to fit into Saban's creation. As Burai had a past. While Tommy was mostly the new kid on the block. It seems changes were made.
I need to watch it again to make sure I haven't allowed anything to slip my mind. I haven't seen the entire season in a two or so years. But I'm still pretty sure I'm up to date and also don't really want to flood my post with things already mention.
If all plays out, I may invest into Netflix, just so I can watch it again. I'd prefer watching it on a good ole dvd. But reliving through streaming isn't so bad, as long as their always available to watch whenever a person desires.
But MMPR S1 doesn't give me the urge to bash it, as I said. It was between good/okay. Not really the most terrible thing to ever see the light of day. And of course a piece of my childhood I wouldn't forget.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I'm not very pro-nostalgia, but it was the initial success of season 1 that set the foundation for the next 15 years. That's always got to count for at least something.

MMPR Season 1 is what started it all, and it was one of my favorite seasons as a kid.
