Tied only with 'The Simpsons' as best show ever. The people who don't appreciate this show just don't "get it"... It is a very special kind of funny that not everybody will be able to understand or empathize with.. Much like Shrek, it will be beloved by most and abhorred by a small percentage, as is likely the case with most types of humor.. You just can't please everybody.
That said, I definitely count myself in the majority camp of those who love Seinfeld (and, incidentally, the minority camp of those who dislike Shrek.).. I think this is the best and funniest show ever, though it probably shares this honor with 'The Simpsons' on some occasions. The only thing I never "got" about Seinfeld was why they called it a show about nothing. It is a show about EVERYTHING-- every nuance of our lives as humans is at some point addressed in this show, and that is part of its uniqueness in a field full of pleasant but still lesser offerings (Friends, Mad About You, Home Improvement, etc.)... Thankfully, "Seinfeld" has earned a forever place in syndication, and so will be relished for a long time to come.
Score: A+

Always Funny Seinfeld had a nice mix of funny characters. They weren't just a bunch of attractive people saying lame jokes and going through the same situations that we've seen in sitcoms over and over again through the years. George would yell sometimes when he got frustrated. Kramer acted like he was on something. He didn't seem to do much work, and yet he had a great time. Jerry was just like a big baby sometimes. Elaine was very attractive, but she was willing to get down and do some real funny stuff. She didn't take herself seriously. That annoying postman, Newman, brought back memories of Cliff from Cheers. George's parents were so odd that it wasn't hard to understand how George turned out. And, of course, there was the good ol' Soup Nazi. Most of the characters were far from normal. The discussions were never too serious. We didn't have to worry about anything. All we had to do was laugh. Everything would be fine. That was Seinfeld.

the best show that ever been in the history of television 10/10 one day i heard my mom on the phone talking to her friend saying "i have to see seinfeld i will talk to you later" and just hang out the phone..i didn't even know who is he..after that i started hearing my family talks about it (i mean on every single scene)so i asked myself is it that good? when my mom waked me up and said "the last episodes are live from all around the world wake up!!!" i told her sorry i don't know seinfeld at all and she said to me "so what?! its seinfeld!"...that was just too much for me.. one day i came home late and saw my mom and sis watching the episode when kramer find a set of an old night-show...i still didn't get it..but then i saw "soap natzi" and OH MY GOD I LAUGHED SO HARD SO MY HEART JUMPED!..the show was over and i kept on laughing and laughing i couldn't stop..and since then i started to adore him and his unforgettable show so i recorded every episode and i watch it, enjoy it, and laughing from it until today. not one show (not only sitcom) compare to this one. i recommend it to anyone who want to laugh so hard like me. i give it million points

Unmatched I have been a fan of this show for years. The saddest moment of my life occurred at the end of the series finale when that Castle Rock Entertainment logo flashed across the screen and I knew it was all over. Jerry (Seinfeld), George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Lewis Dreyfus) and Kramer (Michael Richards) were the perfect combo. All four actors had such great chemistry that just kept building up until the end. After a while, it seems as though they are actually your own friends. Probably the reason for that being is that you can actually relate to these people. They aren't the sappy-sweet, pat each other on the back dorks you see on "Friends" weekly. These four people are selfish, shallow and sometimes manipulative yet light-hearted people that you run into everyday. They have conversations that you have with other people behind closed doors. A lot of people hate Seinfeld for it's cynical sense of humor, and really, it's not for everyone. If you loved "I Love Lucy" or "Gilligan's Island," this show will make you vomit. But for me, someone who started enjoying it as a pre-teen, it remains a huge part of my life. Something that I will enjoy until the day I die. I have seven tapes full of episodes that I recorded off of TV (6 hours a tape) and I don't have all the episodes yet. To give you an idea of how much I love this show, at the beginning of each week, I log onto tvguide.com, look up the listings for Seinfeld, read each episode synopsis, find out which ones I don't have on tape already, and write out a weekly schedule of episodes that I need to record and then program my VCR. The hope is that I will someday have every episode on tape to enjoy (Lord knows that DVD ain't coming any time soon.) This show seriously cures all forms of boredom.

It graced the TV for 9 fantastically hilarious seasons! I have watched both new and sindicated showings of Seinfeld, and it never gets duller, or less witty and hilarious no matter how many times I turn it on. It has great stories with all the characters, and its like a long movie that is fragmented with quick conflicts and quick solutions. It's a show that has a lot of intelligent humor with a strong twist of reality, since the dialogue is totally relative to many aspects of our lives.

Not for everyone, but it is as good as they say A lot of people hate this show. I guess its just personal taste. I love it, and I agree it is one of the best shows of all time. But it is not the best, because there is no best. I think there are a handful of top shows (see TV Guide's top 5 shows in a recent issue), but there is no clear winner. This show belongs in the top 5 because of the intricate plots and writing, among many other things. Actually, you should stop reading this and go see it for yourself when you get the chance. Don't listen to me or these other people, just go see for yourself what kind of show Seinfeld is.

A Masterpiece In my opinion the best TV show ever. Hands down. Why? Because.
It is Hilarious! Their whole outlook of life and their way of dealing with different life challenges was off the wall.
Conversation was not just a time filler but an Art.
The cast was amazing. The 4 main characters, the supporting characters and the guest stars delivered their best performances here.
No show came as close to portraying reality as Seinfeld did, and to the user who said the episodes are unrelated, I say take a couple of more looks. In fact their reality was better than the real reality because they skipped the boring stuff.
I love real stuff and I love a good Story. Seinfeld had both and more.
In fact their was a constant story flow throughout the whole 180 episodes. The links were very subtle as opposed to most shows that have one endlessly long story going on and on where the previous episode is continued with the next. Sometimes a reference in the 50th episode of stuff that happened in the 20th episode. Or the recurrence of characters in episodes far apart. The Babu Bhatt character comes to mind. Of course these ideas are used nowadays in every other Sitcom but no one comes even close to doing it as brilliantly as the Sein-man did. It was totally realistic. We came to care about this fringe characters and one would remember this characters for ages to come even though many made just one appearance on the show. Another example is Sidra, with the real and spectacular stuff.
The reality factor was emphasized by the fact that Seinfeld integrated a lot of real things in the show. From making advertisements for all sorts of stuff to commenting on current and past affairs, eg. the cloning sheep remark.. To opinions on all sorts of people from Gandhi to Nixon to Liam Neeson, sports, movies, TV shows etc. And of course the story lines at least in the beginning were based on Real life experiences of Larry David. And of course not forgetting Jerry playing himself. U can't get any more real than that.
I can go on and on but this few points more than illustrate the brilliance that was Seinfeld and in my opinion in its whole entire run up and including the last episode.

Best thing on television, and its in syndication Four phenomenal protagonists. Awesome supporting characters (the Constanzas, the Seinfelds, Newman, David Puddy, etc). Great bit characters (Ramon the "pool guy," Salbass, Keith Hernandez, etc.).
I could go on and on. But I don't need to. I'd be preaching to the choir. Even with it on four times a day, I long for the day it hits DVD.

The best show of our time! Seinfeld is classic. Jerry,Kramer,Geogre, and Elaine are jerks getting into misadventures every week. To tell you the truth,I never watched Seinfeld til it came off the air. But it is still funny, and I have no trouble laughing at a rerun. Kramer is classic. He always get's the best lines. Some of the episodes that stick are... The Kenny Roger's Chicken,The Finale,The one where Jerry, and Geogre are thought to be gay,and many more.
So Damn Funny
5/5

The greatest show ever This show will go down as the greatest of all time. WHY? because it doesn't follow the formula. It is hard to find an episode or storyline which aren't original or cliched. All the characters are relateable and play amazingly off each other. The supporting characters go against the grain as well. I liken this show to Frasier where you have to have a brain to get most of the jokes. This is better than Frasier but. This is the best and whoever doesnt appreciate should watch more than five minutes at a time to get the jokes. Or those people that dont get it should go watch shows that cater for unintelligent people.

All tastes! For the people that actually don't like this show, there has got to be something they don't understand. The truth is that Seinfeld (in a somewhat exaggerating manner) exploited what us middle class people are really like. It may not be 100% accurate but it spoke of every taboo issue that we can think of and spat it at our faces every week. This show is the Bruce Lee of sitcoms. It can't be topped in its meticulous writing and acting.

Some People Just Don't Get It - Not That There's Anything Wrong With That It disappoints me to see a review of this show which proclaims an inability to understand its humor. Perhaps such a reviewer is simply slow, or perhaps he/she has not taken the time to truly appreciate the unique and complex storylines woven into each half hour of this program. Whatever the case, this show is truly the funniest show of all time. Whether you like or dislike the actors, each story is creative and daring. How can anyone not appreciate Jerry's perpetual phobia about germs and dirt? How can anyone remain stoic when George begins one of his classic rants about ridiculous problems -- particulary his parents? How can anyone even begin to argue that Kramer's eccentricities are not truly the funniest ever seen on non-animated television (a nod to The Simpsons, of course)? And Elaine's dancing? Priceless. Puddy's personality? Hilarious. George's parents? Side-splittingly funny.
This show is re-run anywhere from 3 to 5 times each day in my area, and I can't get enough of it. Whether you've seen The Contest one time or one hundred times, it is ALWAYS funny.
I can appreciate that some people need more time to appreciate this show. It's too bad they don't give it the proper time before writing a negative review. All respect to Jerry and George -- yes, there is something wrong with that.

Annoyingly funny I'm being reacquainted with Seinfeld again after missing out of a lot the first time back in Singapore when they pushed the telecast time so late in the night that I couldn't force myself to sit through it. Watching it now, I could understand why the TV station shelved it into the midnight time slot since this kind of humour wouldn't be really appreciated back in Asia. You'd have to really understand it to appreciate it which is why it was such a huge hit in America. I know that this show was criticised for not having a format unlike other comedy series but it's refreshing to just watch these 4 banter with each other without any real specific goals other than to just live life as they seem fit. The real star however, has to be Michael Richards, who plays Cosmo Kramer. He is hilarious and really OTT! Jason Alexander's character on the other hand, is so annoying you feel like punching him in the face sometimes. Then again, you'd just sit through just to enjoy the likes of Kramer and George Constanza's parents, who I think are way underrated for their contribution to the show. It was smart of Jerry Seinfeld to quit whilst he was ahead so people would remember the show for what it really is than a washed out comedy series hanging on by their end threads for a few last glorious years i.e. Friends.

BEST SHOW EVER! There is only one thing that can be said about this show - unparalleled. This is the best show I have ever seen in my entire life. I started a Seinfeld marathon earlier this month, and although I've seen every episode before, I just can't get enough of it. I laugh out loud at every episode. It has the best writing I've ever heard in any show or movie. The acting is fabulous. And although Seinfeld isn't the best character on the show, each character is so great because of Jerry. Elaine and George are by far the two best characters on TV in the history of television. Every single episode is witty, clever, timely, and everything from the beginning through the end ties together perfectly.
