I was just wondering if anyone here has ever attended a Live Taping of SBTB? And if so what was it like?
I could imagine it was a memorable experience.

i have to admit, i'm kinda old compare to a lot of you guys on this forum =) I grew up in Los Angeles so I had the chance to go to a lot of TV taping, such as SBTB College Years, Family Matters, Grace Under Fire, FULL HOUSE..etc. So here's the general info about the SBTB COllege Year's tv tapings:
TV tapings are a popular and easy form of fund raiser for clubs in high school, if you get a group of 30 or so students you prb can get approx $500 for attending (this was mid 90s price). some shows require people to be over 18, some shows do not. Friends require audience of 18 and over, SBTB didn't so that was good.
When i attened SBTB The College Years, there was a host who gave away prices like autographed pix, SHIRTS, etc. It was really fun b/c he taught us when to laugh (there is a laughing meter "on/off") and when to clap. The seats were like stadium seating w/ prb 100 plus seats for live audiances. We were pretty close to the stars!! The taping would start from 5pm to like 9pm. I know, it's only a 30-min show, but they do two takes for every scene at least, and if they mess up, it'll take 3,4,5 or more takes.
The sets looks fake if you look at it in real life, but on camera they don't look so bad. Camera does wonders. And the sets are kinda flimsy too, it shakes and waddles when ppl close doors. but u can't really tell on TV either.
There are 4 or 6 camers shooting rolling at the same time, and there are like 6 TVs for audiances too, so we see what the camera crew sees. it is awesome, b/c u get to see what it looks like on TV and IN PERSON.
I wish I had the opportunity to see the original SBTB, but seeing Zack/Slater/Screech/Kelly in person in the college years ain't so bad either. I didn't think the chemistry was that great with Leslie and Alex, maybe that's cuz i'm biased and i have loyalty toward the old crew. But i have to say, all those actors in real life are all very good looking. Their SKIN and hair are pretty good, and their make up artists are right next to them in between takes.
At the end, although we dont get to see the whole edited version, you can get a very good idea what the storyline and the outcome is b/c they pretty much shoot the scenes in sequential order. And the actors come out and THANK us and stuff very briefly. The coolest part about watching the taping you attended is the fact that you know you participated in the laughing/clapping. if you made some weird laugh or clap, then you'll totally notice it when you see it aired!!
Overall it was a memorable experience.

Rare info? well, interesting star citings (indirectly) is that my old mgr lived w/ Tori Scott back in her college year in the mid 90s, and my high school friend was in the same biology lab at UCLA as Blossom in the late 90s (i dunno her real name)! i guess u see a lot of famous people in southern california.

Wow, cool. But did you get to see the actors on TCY hang out and stuff...like what did they do for fun, if they did, around the set that day?

the mgr told me that they weren't really friends cuz Leanna (sp?) was really religious and really into the artsy stuff, so they were in a different crowd. and she never wants to talk about her time at TCY so none of the other roomates bugged her about it. i guess they just got randomly assigned as roomates =)

Leanna Creel, Tori? She wasn't on TCY...or did you mean regular college? I was referring to your post about the live taping. I'm confused. lol

i typed it wrong. i meant "SBTB" not "TCY". and sorry, i read your question wrong too =) i didn't notice them "haning out", during takes they were just holding scripts, drinking water, talking to the directors. nothing unusual. in some other TV tapings I went to, the stars actually came to the audiance seats and talked to us, i wish TCY did the same when i went.

I actually don't remember which episode I attended since it was like back in 1994... =) I have been wondering that myself too actually.
When I went to TCY taping, the cast members didn't stick around after to chit-chat or let us ask questions. They just came out together at the end and waved.
I have to say Full House was more interactive. Uncle Jessie (John Stamos) actually came to the audience area and greeted us. That might be a special occurance b/c John Stamos attended the same high school I did back in the 80s so he came out as a courtesy.
