It was just one episode, where he took up Slater's JOB at the Union as a favor.
BTW, the episode is titled "Question of Ethics".

Yeah, he wound up helping Slater out because of the class load in Ethics. Then Mike and Kelly wound up helping Screech out and working for free. Funny stuff! I loved TCY!!! Reminded me of my college days in the dorms!

I remember him helping Slater out. I thought he was the Assistant Manager later. I guess I was wrong.

In this ep., he was promoted to Asst. Manager. Of course, it was all with the help of Kelly and Mike. He was later fired because his plan for a Mexican Fiesta didn't quite work as well as he'd planned.

Remember the dumpster scene with Zack, Slater, Alex, and Leslie in it looking for the test? Then Screech comes out to dump the trash singing the theme to "Sesame Street. That was priceless! Great, great stuff!
