This is perhaps a stupid question, but here goes. What baseball sides do the four main characters support?
I reckon it's
Jerry - NY Mets Kramer & George - NY Yankees Elaine - Baltimore
I know zip about the sport, but I'm always intrigued at the lack of any rivalry between the characters regarding their teams considering how much baseball features in the show. Jerry's a Mets fan (I think), but is always in awe of the Yankees former stars and they were all in awe of "Game 6", which I think is a Mets game from the World Series (?). Are the Mets and Yankees just not that great rivals? Care to shed any light baseball fans?
P.S. Who does Larry David support?

I'm not so sure where Jerry's loyalties lie because he is, as you said, always in awe of the Yankees former stars (but I guess anyone might be even if they were not a fan). Then again, he was watching a taped Mets game in the first episode and he wanted to see the Mets game in "The Puerto Rican Day".
George does usually seem to be more of a Yankees fan since he worked for them, but he was willing to try to get fired in "The Millennium" to work for the Mets. He also sounded pretty disgusted when he informed Jerry that the Mets lost in "The Puerto Rican Day".

I think George is a Yankee due to his speech in The Opposite when he berates Steinbrenner about embarrasing NYC by ruining "..our beloved Yankees.." and the fact that George's father is a Yankee.
Kramer begins an early episode complaining about a trade that the Yankees made whilst going through a newspaper, so I reckon he is too.
Does Jerry not have a Mets cap hanging from his wall?
Anyway, if it's commonplace to support both teams then maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree with these theories.

Jerry loyalties reside with the mets...as seen on the show and has mentioned his fondness to the mets in a few shows i've seen him at

Larry David is a Yankees fan. The episode where Frank yells at Steinbrenner for trading Jay Buener (after being told of George "dying") was based on a real situation from LD's life. He is a devout Yanks fan but when Buener was traded, LD got FURIOUS to the point of breaking stuff in his apartment. He got his "revenge" by yelling at Steinbrenner vicariously through Frank Costanza on the show.
**This info is actually straight from Kenny Kramer, who was LD's neighbor & roomate in NYC years ago.

Both Jerry and Larry are Yankee and Mets fans. Jerry roots for the Mets over the Yankees and Larry the Yankees over the Mets. This is in real life.

Is there a dividing line in NYC that determines what team you support? In King of Queens, they're all from Queens NY and they support the Mets... I'm just wondering if certain burroughs support one team over the other.

Kramer and Newman were also at a Mets game when they yelled at Keith Hernandez and then they claimed he spit on them.

Most New Yorkers DON'T support both sides. I hate the Mets. Jerry and Larry are exceptions.

Yeah, I think they might not be as hardcore as some people and they just want the NY teams to do well.

I just thought of something to add here. Jerry was watching the Yankees play in The Wink, which was just on recently. Of course, he could have just been watching to see if Paul O'Neill would make good on the promise he made.
He also is watching the Yankees in The Engagement because you can hear him tell George that Mattingly just singled.

Does everyone remember when Jerry promised to watch a Mets game naked with the guy who played Mr. Carosi (Ernie Sabella) on Saved By the Bell? They discussed the Mets in depth on that episode.

I'm pretty sure even in the show Jerry's a baseball fan-- Mets and Yankees, and if either team is playing, he'll watch for fun and root for them.
But I'm pretty positive that he'd root for the Mets over the Yankees, in the show and in real life.

Probably so, but he doesn't despise the Yankees like some Mets or Yankees fans about the other team.

kramer obviously sides with both the yanks and the mets, because in one episode, he complains about steinbrenner trading away players. then in "the boyfriend", kramer and newman recollect their spit story after enjoying a METS game. so there you have it
