Over the past few years things have gotten tougher and probably the majority of us want to turn back the clock to where things were more simpler and honestly happier. Where instead of kids just sitting inside on the computer, or always on cell phones texting, or on X-Box's or PlayStation 3's all the time. I feel that we were the last generation to really enjoy what it was like to be a kid. We were mostly outside with friends playing tag and chasing each other around stuff like that. I've seen the world change sometimes for the better other times for worse. I usually have this sense of longing of going back to when it was a happier time. But I want to know from everyone else what do you think of the present day and would you turn back the clock to a simpler time if you had the chance?

Although I wonder if we think our times were simpler because of the fact we were unaware to what was going on in the world. I know up until 2001 I didn't pay much attention to the news. I do agree with you however that it seems kids these days like to stay inside and not do much besides play their video game. I think that falls back on the parents though. They need to set limits to how much their kid(s) can play and force them to go play in the street. Not literally of course. I think the state of our economy also has something to do with it. You can't turn on the television without hearing about a kidnapping, shooting, robbery, ect. So I can also see why parents don't want their kids outside. Double-edged sword, I guess.
All in all I wish I could turn back the clock to when nothing, other than the occasional homework, mattered.

You hit the nail on the head. I miss the innocence of the 90's. I remember heading outside in the morning and playing basketball until noon, then coming in for lunch and heading back outside for a game of football or soccer, coming in for supper, and then heading out to ride our bikes around town until it was too dark out. Then we would come in, watch a movie or play some game and go to bed. Times back then were much simpler.
Now the news seems to have everyone scared. For the most part I tend to avoid all major news stations. I would rather not know about all the negative stories.

My usual days during the summer was either going to a friend's house; playing there, going outside, playing with either a ball or having our power rnagers fight for the "universe" aka my friend's place for the day with the occasional TV show. Or it was playing with the water outside with friends or something. I rarely was ever inside. I know what you mean bro with why kids aren't outside as much like we were. Though personally I feel it's more lazy parents that are the cause too. Even concerned parents would go outside with them to watch them.
I would limit my kids on games and TV. I watched it during late afternoon or evening till bed when I was a kid. Funny thing was I was never given limits as a kid mostly my mom was at work and I was with my grandparents. But yea I put the blame on lazy parents in general cause all they would need to do is go outside with their kids.

Indeed, it's nearly an entirely different generation. And given technology's high-speed advancement, it's only going to be a matter of time before we're going to end up like the people in Wall-E. Back in the day, it was fun to do things outside. We had imaginations that would span galaxies and universes (some of us still do), and despite the news and the dangers of being outside (which were there at that time too no matter what anyone says) we were still out, having fun, doing things that kept us healthy and mostly allergy-free. It was also a much simpler time, where we got most of our information on paper or on TV, as opposed to the internet.

Nowadays, social media allows one to be social without face-to-face interaction. That, coupled with being social while also being independent as well as the coloring of the outside world by the news causes people to want to stay inside in order to keep from getting involved with the "dangers" in the outside world. The internet is a major part of our society, and it's become the ruler of our lives (just think about how powerful it is. It shut down a proposed bill passed by the US government for Pete's sake. Imagine what would happen if my story New World Order were to come true.)

Yes, our time of the 90's was a much simpler time, and technology's growth at an alarming rate isn't really helping us any.
