Hey, has there been a discussion yet on what everyone's fave episodes are? I'm just BUSTING! to talk about it, although I don't know what they'd be yet. It would be difficult even putting a top 10 together, and in no particular order!

To everyone who posts, can I ask why you chose those particular eps in your top 10?

For me, I have to say I'm a sucker for a bumbling idiot so a lot of my faves involve Kramer doing something absolutely ridiculous (hey I know, but I can't list them all, it's only a top 10!). The "H.E. Pennypacker, Wealthy Industrialist" persona kills me.

I chose them according to basic criteria: originality, artistic value, how much it made me laugh, the observations made, the characters' behaviour, all the rest.

Okay, here goes. I've never actually sat down and thought of my top ten, but I'm gonna try now. In no particular order:
The Soup - Kenny Bania is the man you love to hate. I appreciate this episode so much more after getting my foot in the door of the world of stand-up comedy, and meeting hacks like this.
The Chinese Restaurant - Two words: Real time.
The Contest - So unconventional and yet it worked so brilliantly. The fact that they can talk about this kind of thing around Elaine is such a refreshing idea.
The Dinner Party - George and Kramer work so well together. This is one of the few episodes where they had a joint plot, and it's gold.
The Stakeout - First mention of Art Vandelay, Jerry playing Scrabble with his mother, Sagman Bennett Robbins Oppenheim and Taft...
The Jacket - One of my favourite characters in the history of the show was Alton Benes. He's a writer, yet he's so closed-minded and crass, I love it.
The Tape - George in love with Elaine. I love that angle, and I don't think they played that card enough throughout the run of the show.
The Alternate Side - The scenes at the car rental place are classic Jerry satire and the way all the characters end up saying "These pretzels are making me thirsty" is beautiful.
The Outing - Dramatic irony at its best.
The Glasses - I love episodes where Jerry berates George and this episode is full of it. Also, one of my favourite lines of all time is "May I have one of those, Madam?" I haven't seen this episode as much as the rest of the ones on my list (I don't have it on tape), and yet it still sticks out in my mind.

Top Ten: 10. The Butter Shave- One of my favorite scenes of all time, George's Rascal Race, single handedly put this in the top ten. 9. The Race- Kramer turning communist is brilliant: "Mommy, Santa's a commie!" as well as the Superman theme when Jerry wins the race. But the best part of this episode is the "reunion" George and Jerry have in the coffee shop. 8. The Soul Mate- A brilliant scene stolen from a famous play, where Newman hides behind the book shelves and feeds Kramer lines. Then inevitably he goes on a rant about junk mail. George's diorama is also hilarious. "I think you should be the M&M" 7. The Cigar Store Indain- I will never as long as I live forget Kramer in the cab with the Indian shouting to Jerry, and I also love the battle against political correctness, as Jerry inevitably stumbles across several sensitive terms. 6. The Fusilli Jerry- The whole business about "the move," and the way it is vaguely described to the audience is brilliant. And Estelle crediting Kramer's "assman" status to her eyelift is original. Not to mention that this episode has one of the greatest endings of them all. 5. The Hot Tub- This is Seinfeld in its prime and at its best. I think if one were to watch a Seinfeld episode for the first time they should watch this one. The cast's main characteristics are all on display, and the different plots intertwine brilliantly. Jerry looks after Elaine's guest after he is kicked out of her apartment for using George's slang, only to be late for the race because of Kramer's hot tub. George cursing at the Astro's guys on the plane is also a great moment. 4. The Abstinence- Jason Alexander single-handedly makes this one of the best. Although George is usually an idiot, he is believable as brilliant, the idea of getting smart from not having sex is brilliant, and the guest appearance from Jeter and Bernie Williams is icing on the cake. 3. The Andrea Doria- Kramer turning into the dog is too funny to ignore, when Jerry tries to feed him the pill, only to have him spit it out is classic. Then in the car he discovers he's going to the doctor and runs away. Then he bites the mailman Newman. Only Spike Ferestein could have written this episode. 2. The Outing- This produces as much laughs as any of them, even after watching it ten thousand times. Theres really not much more to say than that every joke is funny, and a simple premise is milked to the bone out of laughs, more than I thought were possible. Kramer bursting in: "I thought we were friends!" is memorable, as well as George finding himself in a familiar situation in a hospital. The best scene is where the NYU reporter is in Jerry's apartment, and neither of them are yet aware of her suspicions. 1. The Chicken Roaster- What put this above the outing what its creativeness and originality. Its at this point where the show has been established enough to make fun of itself. Jerry bursting in from Kramer's apartment case in point. The scene is made funnier because many jokes are in jokes. Jerry is talking about his friend Bob Sacamano, and Kramer is making sarcastic wisecracks about crazy ideas. Newman, I think the most entertaining character in the show, is excellent as usual. "It's the wood that makes it good." and later spitting out the brocolli: "VILE WEED!" This episode is the best because it contains the most radical, creative ideas, and executes them perfectly. Ultimately it sticks in my head more than any other episode.
