I'm trying to say that the episodes Larry David wrote in season 7 are slowly paced, or at least parts of them are slowly paced. Larry David wrote The Engagement. I assumed people would be able to put two and two together.

The Postponement - B
The rebbe happens to be amusing to me, though I can see why other people would dislike him (if anyone here does dislike him). I enjoy George's plot here more than in The Engagement. However, even though it is necessary for the episode and brings about an amusing turn of events, the scene where George cries is just too awkward for me to bear. Thankfully crying like this was a rare occurrence in Seinfeld (I think the only other time was Kramer in The Trip). Elaine's plot is good enough.

The Maestro - B+
One of the last perfect George plots and two more very amusing secondary characters (even seven seasons in) make this a near-great episode. However, and I think I've said this before - I hate it when Kramer is a moron. Since the third or fourth season, Kramer was more cultured socially than the other principals, but every now and then he'd do some foolish thing like accepting the deal before the guy finishes his sentence. It's a mischaracterization and irritating imo.

I'll just say that season 7 was genius up till about halfway through. All writing inhibitions were gone, but the wit was still there. Things came together creatively in every episode; at worst there would be a chain of amusingly contrived events setting something up (especially the things that led to Kramer driving a fire truck in The Secret Code). Things hardly ever felt forced. The writers really knew what they were doing until ideas started coming short around the time The Seven aired.

The Wink and Secret Code A-? More like C+. Both those episodes didn't do it for me. I hated the ending to the secret code, as well as most of the storylline. Kramer and George's plot in the Wink were weak as well. There is no way these episodes come close to the hot tub.

The Hot Tub is the best of those four episodes.
But the ending to the Secret Code is arguably the most brilliant ending to any Seinfeld episode ever. I still remember watching this way back in the 90's and marveling at how well it came together. And Kramer and George's plot in the Wink are the best of the episode. I hate how Jerry won't even eat a steak-- what a pussy lol.

The Hot Tub is good for the most part, but it's obvious that the runner won't wake up on time (even though exactly how it happened was not predictable). Plus, Jerry's freakout just wasn't in his acting range...it's a little tough to watch for me.

The Secret Code - how could you not love George being trapped with Peterman? I actually think Peterman is much funnier here than in any of his other episodes. Maybe it's the context...every time he talks it puts me in stitches. And yes, the ending is genius. The series of events leading to Kramer driving the fire truck is so contrived I just find it hilarious. It really is brilliant.

The Soup Nazi - what's there is pure gold, but it doesn't have that extra clever thing (themes, twisting stories) to put it over the edge to give it an A+. I think it should be in anyone's top 20.

The Pool Guy - C
H'ooh nelly. Whether or not George is effective in this episode (I personally find him very irritating), this IS the first appearance of screaming George. Plus, whether or not the rant about "relationship / independent George" was effective, you have to agree that George screaming "you're killing independent George!" as he gets thrown out of the movie theater is quite a stretch. Suddenly he's insane.
Otherwise, Jerry's plot is very disposable. The only thing that keeps this almost-decent is Kramer's moviephone (and the appearance of his fusilli figures in his apartment).

The Gum - A+
The last A+. This is easily the best example of stories affecting each other in clever ways. I think it's genius how it all comes together to make George seem insane. The whole thing is golden. It also feels more like a season 5 or 6 episode than season 7, which is a point in its favor.

The Rye - B+
A good, crazy episode that I feel is a shade overrated. Two obvious classic moments: the meeting of the Costanzas and the Ross's and Jerry mugging the old lady. However, I don't care for Elaine's story. I think by this time, both oral sex and cleverly avoiding mentioning a certain obscene act explicitly had been played out. Plus, they don't handle it very cleverly anyway - for me at least, it's hard to tell what they're even talking about until the very end with the sax performance. I guess I'm naive that way And about the very end: it goes on too long, and isn't strong enough to hold up for that long. It's ain't The Jimmy.
